Off the Creek TV Channel 5 - Off the Creek Virtual Tour October 2012
On Oct. 2, we gave a presentation to the Water Advisory Team of the Agri-Environmental Partnership of Alberta.  The presentation gave some project highlights and a summary of the impacts of the program to date. This video shows the slides from the presentation...after a couple of wordy slides, it gets to a selection of pictures of the projects and the riparian areas.

Off the Creek TV Channel 1 - Creek Erosion:
Here is a quick little video I took (two parts) that shows how a creek can take out a lease road...and how trees and other plants can protect against erosion.

Immediately upstream and downstream of the lease road, there's no erosion...the soil and the creek banks are protected by the roots of riparian trees, shrubs, grasses, and forbs.

  1. Your right those culverts are totally undersized. To handle a 5 foot wide creek you need capacity close to that plus the 3feet extra height at high tide. the other option would be a ford (sp) crossing...current pipes still too small.

  2. Another option, assuming this is a private land/ lease access road (not municipal), would be to put in a decommissioned trailer deck, armor the wings (like a bridge) and plant lots of deep rooted woody vegetation. A little more cost but culverts (multiple small/ single large) aren't cheap and multiple fixes aren't either.
