Project Highlights

Tom and Jeanette Housman North Raven River Projects

Tom and Jeanette have been carefully managing their riparian area for many years.  In 2011, they decided to take the next steps in management, with permanent riparian fencing and a portable off-site watering system.  The second half of this video (CLICK HERE) highlights their efforts.

This Profile is about MB's Off-Site Watering System.  MB runs cow-calf pairs, and follows a fairly intensive rotation.  He has lots of small wetlands and potholes on his place, and didn't want to get into fencing them.  Instead, he wanted a portable watering system, with which he could pump water from the sloughs and dugouts.  He felt that this would keep most cattle out of the water bodies.  His rotation system would also give each riparian area rest and recovery time if there was any impacts.
